Re: Tales from the clearance bin: bird dog s'mores whiskey
Thank you for asking, I had to go down into my crypt like it was the brig of the ship of Jack Sparrow. Some of the cases actually have mold on them now.
The Japanese Hibiki is great all of them despite not being single malt. Taste like caramel and easy to drink.
Taliskers are great.
Bushmills is good but standard single malt. It's a good all rounder.
The Japanese often have a "clean" taste but not always my favorite. It has some bad after taste for me.
Bowmore is pretty much standard.
Hibiki again, you can never go wrong with these. It's like whiskey for children.
Talisker 57° North, is my favorite, 57% but it goes down like candy and it has a kick to it too. Oh, it's empty.
Do not buy Slyrs, some Bavarian whiskey with nut flavor.
Ledaig is horrible.
Glen Garioch is not something I like. In general I like the smokey more and this one is more on the sweeter side. It's after taste that is bad.
That's is my current setup.
In general the Scottish variants seems to have different amount of smokeyness to them. When drinking them pure I like the smokey best. However, if you are going to mix them I'm not sure.

That is an impressive collection, wow. The knockando is my favorite label.
I see the review as almond and orange. Sounds good but I doubt it.
What about a hot toddy?
Mtn dew was my favorite with the s'mores vodka.

I never tried it but I think I should. I need to buy honey first. However, cinnamon is a bit too winter right now. Maybe if I exchange that to ginger with the lemon.

Since this is a horse forum I must mention Tyrconnell. I had this a while a ago. Sweet whiskey with pretty clean taste.

That's a nice setup. I didn't know about the Svedka vodka brand. Why can't I get all those interesting brands.
Re: Tales from the clearance bin: bird dog s'mores whiskey
clearance section, it's the flavors no one will buy. It's OK. Not worth 4x the price of smirnoff but a buy for half.
The $40 liters of vodka is such a flooded market with nothing much distinguishing the brands unless you get into flavors.

Smoke Wagon, 57.65% Alcohol. I'd love to try that one.

Apparently it is spicy rye. I bought it expecting peat smoke
