Exit interview, wtf do you need an interview for getting sacked? I thought I've seen all HR shit in the world but this is new.
Re: My activities for the month of stardate 19938 are/is
That is not really a new thing. And that is just what it was called, so not sure if it was a true "exit interview". We knew something was sus because we got a new ceo and he was saying the teams were too big. Then we found out that the original founder had sued the old ceo to get him out of the way. So the original founder was actually behind the scenes "doing stuff" for that last month. There was a 1 hour "company meeting" scheduled for today. But then a lot of us started getting invites to strange 15 minute "mandatory" meetings where the guest list was hidden. And then I really knew something was sus when I noticed there were two pending direct deposits in my bank account for basically a week's worth of work plus my PTO balance. And this was all yesterday.
The 15 minute "mandatory" meetings were basically first thing this morning. I thought it was one on one but it was a whole group of like 30 people where the new ceo basically told us there's been some restructuring and we are now with out a job so sign out of everything and then wait for the "exit interview" invite that will go to our personal on file email addresses. And that was that meeting. So I sat there in our company Slack room watching slowly as all the accounts went deactivated and then finally mine. Many of us were in the middle of big projects, I had to quickly spew out instructions into random slack channels to revert my code changes from the prior days because they were scheduled to go into prod in the coming days but wouldn't work without some other stuff I was going to be working on.
So that is a long way to say I think we only got "exit interviews" because the first meeting was so rushed/quick. Although the "exit interview" was only 5 minutes where they explained I could still use my insurance until the end of the month and that I'll be getting an email Monday with paperwork to sign for a "severance package" Which that is probably a way to say "sign here for money and please don't sue us".
